Realme 9 Pro, Realme 9 Pro+ Launch Tipped for February, Spotted on European Conformity Certification Site

The Chinese smartphone market is known for its aggressive sales of low-priced devices. This isn’t always a bad thing, especially if you take advantage of some of the subsidies China offers through its state-backed import schemes like the National Smartphone Development Project and the China Development Bank. While these schemes are more beneficial to those who live in China, the country’s consumers are also getting more affordable handsets in other regions, especially through companies like Xiaomi and Vivo.

Thanks to their massive sales and competitive pricing, most Chinese OEMs have found their way into the top-tier price brackets, but those not living in the PRC are still catching up in a race of their own. Xiaomi recently launched its sub-brand Redmi in Europe, which has taken off quite well in countries like India. The company is looking to expand its reach through new channels and as a result, the company recently took to the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo to raise $500,000 for its next project. This is their first step into the Indian market. Other OEMs are also eyeing the country for expansion, most notably Vivo.

We’ve already seen quite a few Vivo devices this year, including the Vivo Nex and Vivo V9. The latter is the company’s first mid-range device in the country, while the former is the successor to the F8, Vivo’s first flagship model in India. Xiaomi is no stranger to Vivo, having released the Mi Max 3 as a successor to the Mi Max 2 last year. We’ve seen a bunch of renders of the next-generation Xiaomi Mi Max 3 before, but now that the device is official, there’s nothing left to speculate on. Now that we’re finally getting our hands on the device, there’s a lot to unpack.

Xiaomi Redmi India

The Redmi brand is Xiaomi’s entry-level sub-brand which focuses on offering devices with a lower price tag and good specs. The company’s first such device was the Redmi Note 5, and it was a hit. The device’s impressive screen-to-body ratio and the value-for-money package made it a very popular offering, and it paved the way for other models from Redmi. While it still offered quite good specs in comparison to other budget devices, it came with a lot of compromises in the package. On top of that, the Redmi brand’s biggest selling point—good build quality—wasn’t on the radar for most people.

The successor of the Redmi Note 5 was the Redmi Note 5 Pro, which put more focus on the build quality and screen ratio. It also didn’t fall short on the camera department and had a decent screen resolution. The Redmi Note 5 Pro was later replaced by the Xiaomi Redmi Y2 in the same price bracket, which was the more capable of the two. Now that we’re nearing the end of 2019, the next-generation Redmi Note 5 is finally going to be launched in India, which has a lot of expectations.

Xiaomi has always been a very efficient company, in more ways than one. When it comes to launching a device in the country, the company always puts its best foot forward in terms of its execution. So while the launch event for the Redmi Note 5 in China didn’t feature an invite, it’s likely that we’re going to get to see one at the Redmi Note 5 launch event in India. We do know that the company will be releasing a special edition model which will be exclusive to the company’s home country, China.

Realme 9 Pro, Realme 9 Pro+ Launch Dates

There are several things about this leak that need to be mentioned. First of all, the company didn’t include a lot of information about its new device, and the leak didn’t have any specifications. The design, which seems to be based on a mid-range device from Xiaomi, may be the real deal. However, the leak has some red flags. Some Chinese language parts may be used in this device, which is a no-no in most of the western countries. It also has a USB-C port, which is a first for any device from Xiaomi. This means that the Redmi Note 5 Pro is likely to be a part of a company-wide initiative. We expect Xiaomi to release it first in China and then move it to other markets.

Xiaomi’s first step into the Indian market with Redmi is one of its most-awaited launches, so the company is likely to do everything.
